Camera Lenz of Missionary Life in Africa

Story 1 - Once upon a time Dr. Samuel Yoo met one student named Saul at Kampala. Saul lost one eye. Samuel had a heart for Saul, taught the Bible and helped him graduate from college. But Saul could not get a job due to the problem with his vision. Dr. Samuel called one of his friends in Seoul Korea, an eye doctor, to help Saul to get an eye surgery. Saul then went to Seoul, got a surgery, came back, secured a drivre license. But while driving he ran into an accident, and died instantly together with four other passengers in the car. Dr. Samuel's wife Mary is still broken hearted each time she thinks of him. I comforted her saying, "For those who believe, bad things are always good things, for the Lord is good, and good 'all' the time."

Story 2 - Missionary Mary met a sister named Lillian. Lillian is small-bodied, yet smart and pretty. She taught Lillian John's gospel and Genesis through her college years. She graduated, went back home, far away from the city. A few years later Lillian called Mary, and asked her for money. "What do you need the money for?" Mary asked. Lillian said, "I am hungry." Then she sent some money. Since then Lillian kept calling her, each time asking for money. Finally Mary had enough. To teach her the sense of responsibility, Mary said, "This time the money I am giving you is a loan, not a gift." When Lillian calls her next time, Mary wants to ask her, "What happen to the loan payment?"

Story 3 - In 1994, Uganda was raging with AIDS. Dr. Samuel met a student named Julius with AIDS. He taught the Bible gave him medication to let the process slow down. Julius graduated from college, went back home. Soon he died of AIDS. His wife sent Dr. Samuel a picture of her husband (Julius)'s dead body. She then brought her two sons to Kampala where Dr. Samuel is ministering. She asked for money to support her two children through the school. So he gave her all he had.
