The first night of the LA UBF Fall Bible Conference 2013 (Nov 15, Friday)

LA UBF held a FAll Bible Conference entitled "Lost and Found" at the Big Bear Mountain conference site.

After dinner the evening program began with the praise team (Charles and his company - Andrew Casias, Greg Newmaster, Justin, Anthony Manciny) leading songs of praise. The praise songs were all graceful. Especially one of the lyrics was ministering, the lyrics reading, "A sacrifice was made, and then your fire came. They knelt upon the ground. And with one voice they praised."

Andrew Cuevas served a message on Genesis 1. He spoke of man's origin, man's identity, and man's purpose. And he testified about the blessed task of bearing fruit in the Lord.

Debbie Tonne spoke on Genesis 2, the Lord God who provided for man's perfect happiness by making a perfect environment, blessed work to do, blessed command to obey, and the blessed companionship. Most importantly she testified on the importance of the blessedness of His presence in Adam's life.

Anthony then took over the podium and preached on Genesis 3, the Fall of mankind, a message entitled, "Where are you?" He testified about how he was once lost and now came to be found living in His love. And he prayed to focus on Jesus Christ and live as His servant.

After the opening messages on Genesis 1-3, we had a group Bible study on Jesus' message on the prodigal son, Luke 15:11-32. The title of the study was "He was lost and found." I belonged to the group 6 led by James Hopeman. Through the study what James said came to mind: "Lostness represents not being aware of the blessedness of His blessed presence." He exhorted the group members to think about the significance of what the father said (in the parable of the prodigal son) to those who complained about Jesus welcoming sinners, that is, "You are always with me, and all I have is yours." Why does the father mention about the elder brother being always with Him? Why only then did the father say, "all I have is yours"? Then he said in effect, "Lostness refers to being ignorant of the blessedness of God's blessed presence."

After the group Bible study I came out of the conference hall into the open air. It was already dark and the night was mysteriously foggy.
