22 ways Christians think differently - No. 1

In one of the sessions where Jesus spoke to the religious leaders of his day Jesus said in effect, "You are of this world, whereas I am not of this world." He also said, "I am from above, you are from below."

On one occasion Jesus said to one of his disciples, "you have in your mind the things of men, not of God."

These words give us an idea that Jesus' followers think differently than those who do not.

First, Christians' way of thinking is upside down, rather than downside up.

This morning I woke up at 4:00 a.m. For breakfast I ate two pieces of white bread out of toaster, and one fried egg.

Egg tastes better with Ketchup on it. I opened the freezer, and pulled out a bottle of Ketchup - Heinz Tomato brand. Overnight  the ketchup inside the bottle grew rigid, so I shook it up hard but it would not come out. But as I put the bottle upside down for about two minutes, the level of ketchup hit the lid. I opened the lid, held the bottle upside down, and ketchup landed on the egg.

Again when you put the bottle of ketchup upside down on an eating table, what you see happening is the gravity doing the job. Since the gravity is at work, you do not have to shake it up.

The same goes true with the way Christians operate. Consider life as a man desiring to eat an egg with ketchup on it. As one lives one life here on earth in a physical body, you learn to work with the right side up so to speak, that is, by faith in the Lord.

God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son Jesus Christ to this world, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have  eternal life.

Living by faith in Jesus is like a man letting the law of gravity work on his ketchup. Without the faith in Him, life sucks. Life lived without him may seem thriving for a moment but sooner than later one will be worn out, for life on this side of the world is like a gigantic bottle of ketchup all frozen up stuck to the bottom, so that without faith in Him, one has to shake the bottle hard, and by the time he thinks he is ready to enjoy what he worked on, he ends up kicking the bucket.

For further reading on the dynamics of the life that is by faith in Him, read two books first: Hebrews and Romans.
