In reading 1 Samuel 23 (the daily bread Bible passage on May 13, 2013), one will be befuddled to find how much and how often David had to learn what he ought to learn, just for survival.
His men filed an objection, yet on inquiring of the Lord, he went against the counsel of "his" men. He was tempted to trust in the integrity of the people of Keriath for whom he risked his life, yet owing to the Lord giving out to him correct "information" he left the city and saved himself and his company. And he was faced with the same challenge on and on as he was going through the "hide and seek" with his enemy Saul.
The Lord loved David. It was the Lord's will to establish him as the ruler of the nation. Yet why did the Lord wait on David inquiring of the Lord for virtually all the details of his journey? We can dispose of this question easily by the way the Lord created men, that is, imbedding in each person his image which comes with the feature for each person to make his or her own decision based on the resources made available for that person by the Lord.
The answer also is hinted in the word 'information'. What is information? Einstein said, "Information is not knowledge." If it is not knowledge what is it? :-) It is what shapes you (your life - past, present, and future) within in you, thus "in" plus "formation".
I think this (the way man is shaped up) is consistent with what our Lord Jesus inspired his children to do: "Ask, seek, and knock." Unless you ask, "it" will not be given, not be found, and the door will not be opened.
So it behooves us to make ourselves fearfully and prayerfully and expectantly busy to get ourselves 'informed' every day knowing that there is no king's way of progress than education.
