22 Ways Christians Think Differently - No. 8 [Jesus Christ, the fixed point of reference]

There is a battle going on: battle for freedom
the Devil works for total control,
but Jesus Christ came to secure
total freedom for all who turn to him!

To Christians there is only one point of reference of life that is Jesus Christ, whereas non-Christians adopt a different point or points of reference.

Jesus Christ himself expressed this concept: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." John 14:6

The Apostle Paul then says, "Fix your eyes and thoughts on Jesus Christ."

While walking here on earth, Jesus himself prompted Simon Peter to do likewise saying, "You do not have in mind things (or concerns) of God, but things of men." Mark 8:33  In doing so he even called Simon "Satan".

The same Peter who later had learned the life saving power of the Savior said, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Eden was the first home of Adam and Eve.  There the serpent caused the couple to fall by enticing them to go by a different point of reference. The woman started to savor and entertain what the serpent said and then fell.

Question becomes: How can one fix his eyes and thoughts on Jesus alone all the time? The answer to the question is fairly simple: die to yourself and live in and through Jesus Christ as it is written: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Gal 2:20

Does this statement seem abrasive? Then you start thinking differently for the way Christians see and think is way different than liberalists' ways of seeing and thinking, just like the heaven is different than the earth.

One might think settling for one 'fixed' point of reference alone is too restrictive, tossing all the options of life out in the trash can.

But again the Apostle who limited his freedom to one fixed point of reference (Jesus Christ) and one only, has this to say, "It is for freedom that Christ set us free." Gal 5:1

He finds total freedom in total renunciation, freedom from all that are restrictive: trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, sword, death, [this] life [in a physical body], angels, principalities, powers, things present, things to come, height, depth, or any entity or entities that are created by God.

Go and discover yourself not in the streets of Hollywood  but in the privacy of your mind.
