HELLO FELLOW EIGHTH GRADERS!!!
It’s crazy to even be up here right now, speaking to all of you at the end of our middle school journey. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared out of my mind right now of the thought of public speaking, but we all have challenges we have to overcome.
There’s so much that we’ve been through together, so many memories made with each other, so many lifelong friends sitting next to each other at this very moment. I mean, some of you guys have known each other ever since birth. (Twins don’t count) ---pause here
Middle school will always hold a special place in my heart, and it’s bittersweet that this time of our lives is finally coming to an end. I mean, where else, other than Malibu Middle School, will you find so many amazing, compellingly strange people who would rather run up and down the 80 PE stairs fifteen times than do a math packet?
We’re a strong grade, and even with the fires and other challenges being thrown at us we’ve stuck together and now here we are, going from tiny sixth graders all the way to becoming tiny freshmen.
I hope you all are as excited as I am to promote, because whether you’re going to Malibu High School or not, as we move onto this next chapter of our lives, I have no doubt that we’ll all grow and learn a lot.
So, let’s just take a moment to bask in our glory, to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished. Take a moment to think about every laugh, every smile, and every good memory you’ve had here during this time. Then, I want you to think of the future. Think of what’s to come, because we're just getting started.
It’s exciting, right? If we made it this far, I think we can get through anything.
No, truly though, I love our grade and I love the people in it. We as a collective are truly something special, and I’m so grateful to be a part of Malibu Middle School’s 2025 promoting class.
You know, our grade might even be great enough to convince Mr. Beauvoir to stay teaching another year.
Thank you to everybody who has made middle school so special, to all the friends, educators, and guardians in the crowd today. Let’s all make high school just as unforgettable as middle school, if not more.
