22 Ways Christians Think Differently - No. 7

Christians regard holiness as security whereas non Christians regard something else (like money or career) as the source of security.

The term "holiness" is understood in many different ways. Google it and see how many hits with what variety of interpretaions the search might yield.

But for Christians it means only one thing and one thing alone - "His likeness", the likeness of Jesus Christ. You do not have to second guess on what "his likeness" is like. Empty your mind and read the four gospels and examine who He is and what He did and is going to do now and forevermore. What is behind his person and his work? Like tree like fruit. His person and work flow from his own "likeness".

In what respect is holiness the source of security? Two Bible verses stand out - one negative one positive:

- Without holiness no one will see the Lord. Heb 12:14

+ Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him. Daniel 7:27

Daniel talks about "all the kingdoms". What does "all" mean? All means all. Apparently Tedd Turner is the largest landowner so far. Suppose that before he dies he comes to you and says "I Tedd Turner in sound and sober mind hereby deed to you all of my asset holdings."
How would you feel? And imagine what it would be like for you to own a kingsom as your own all the time.

Again Christians think holiness as the foundation for the security of life. If this concept does not seem real, consider what the enemies are all trying to do to you and why. They say there are three enemies prowling around to get you: Satan, the world, and you. Consider their strategy as they are out to let you lose and lose all- cause you to be unholy.

Consider also why John says "Do not love anything in this world." 1jn 2:15

Remember that the same apostle says:

The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 1jn 3:8

Have a nice day.
