Bible Study for the couples desiring to get married

The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the Lord, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses. Exodus 35:29

This page sums up the course work for the couples desiring to get married in the Lord.

I. Definition of the Marriage in the Lord

Marriage in the Lord refers to establishing the devine institution wherein a man leaves his father and mother, and is united to his wife, so they become one flesh, as seen in Genesis 2:24-25. Built in this definition is the description of the married couple in v. 25, "Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame." One of the antonyms of the word 'shame' is 'honor'. After the fall, the couple became dishonorable, and thereby marriage fell from God's grace. God sent Jesus Christ to redeem a believer from disgrace, and thereby restore the marriage back to its honorable state.

This is further seen in the Hebrew word for man and woman, for in Hebrew both man and woman (found in Exodus 35:29) have two letters of Hebrew alphabet in common (Alef and Shin - אש). Added to the two letters is Yod י so man reads Iysh (Alef, Yod, Shin - א'ש) and woman Ishah (Alef, Shin, Hei - אשה), so that when two letters Yod and Hey, which make the name of God (Yah - יה), the name God's children constantly praise saying "Halleluiya", are removed all man and woman are left with is Ash which in Hebrew mans 'fire' which reduces what has been constructed to nothingness like ash. Jesus came to redeem man and woman back from nothingness to the fullness of God. In this way marriage in the Lord restores the purpose of marriage in Genesis 2, that is, to bless all creation through the marriage.
