Revelation 6

Revelation 6 (Why does the judgment come on the inhabitants of the earth?) Revelation 6 describe six seals being opened up. The scheme may look confusing, but the confusion will disappear when one reads the passage by adopting the "intent" test, that is, getting to God's intent (or motive) in causing the scenes to unfold as they do. There are four words that reveal God's intent, that is, "come" (repeated four times) (in regard to the first four seals), "wait" (5th seal), and "face" (6th seal). * Come, Come, Come, Come: each time the first four seals were opened, the angel said, "Come". The angel addresses the call to 'come' to a 'horse' colored white, red, black, and pale. Each horse brings about unique troubles to the people of the earth. The word 'come' repeated 4 times indicate that all troubles that come with each horse advancing come only because of the Lamb of God (Jesus Christ) issuing the order to do so. Jesus Christ is meting out judgment upon the earth. The message to consider then is that Jesus Christ saves those who are to be saved, and punishes and purges the earth of the people who reject him for good, all in due course of time. * Wait: This word explains why judgment is being delayed if it is delayed. The saints (the beheaded due to them bearing testimony of Jesus Christ) cried out to God to speed up the day of vengeance, but God said, "Wait...[until the number of those who suffer martyrdom due to their testimony would be filled up]." What God said here shows God's reason for not bringing about his wrath as quickly as saints might desire. Yet, he is going to bring about His judgment upon the wicked for sure when the time becomes ripe, that is, their wickedness reaching its full. Note: fifth seal does not bring about new batch of God's wrath. It only gives out the reason why God delays judgment on the wicked, that is, for the delay is only temporarily, only to wait until the wickedness of the generation reaches its fullness. * Face: Rev 6:16 reveals to us how the inhabitants of the earth (kings, princes, generals, the mighty, every slave and every free man) reject the Christ to the end, that is, refusing to face him even until after their physical death. The whole world goes upside down, and yet they call to the mountains to fall on them, so they would not face the Lamb of God. The last thing they want to do is to have any thing to do with Jesus Christ. Facing Jesus is the last thing they want to do.
